A Biology page built around the live program components
This is a new composition using the Software Engineering program page as its main visual reference. The supplied Figma foundations support the typography and component geometry. The previous design is preserved for comparison.
Design pilot; evidence readiness remains partial. The visual direction is implemented. Academic facts, copy, rights and current opportunities still require institutional review. The live Slate form is embedded, but no inquiry was submitted and counselor routing is untested.
Where the components match
| Live reference component | Biology implementation | Deliberate adaptation |
|---|---|---|
| Two-row university header | Large horizontal logo, blue utility buttons, gold visit button and lower navigation row. | Direct links replace the live site’s mega menus. The production template should use the shared university header. |
| Full-width photo hero | Real University lab photo, dark overlay, centered 40px Bennet title, fine divider and pill CTA. | A brief Biology opportunity statement and inquiry action support the directive. The decorative Live the Truth circle rotates with scroll and hides at ≤900px or remains static with reduced motion. |
| Blue in-page menu | Compact blue bar, fine dividers, white/gold labels, active section tracking and sticky placement. | Experience is added to the program menu. Narrow layouts scroll horizontally; links remain native anchors. |
| Overview with green inquiry panel | White two-column introduction, green rounded panel, gold Student Information heading, native white Slate fields. | Biology has BA and BS choices, so the form loads after a deliberate degree selection. The exact anticipated-major GUID is sent to Slate. |
| Blue Quick Facts band | Centered heading and four concise degree/location facts. | Biology-specific facts replace engineering costs, AI focus and accreditation. Those engineering claims are not reused. |
| Story card | 16:9 image, thin border, category/date, green headline and publisher link. | One relevant verified source is featured instead of filling a carousel with unrelated stories. |
| Arched section images | Photo/text admissions and financial-aid sections, with the echoed outline treatment used on one arch. | Existing Biology/science imagery replaces engineering photography. |
| Accordions | Gold-lined admissions rows and gray curriculum headers with gold left rules. | Native details/summary provides keyboard operation. Exact course lists remain in the official catalog pending academic confirmation. |
| Green faculty cards and closing CTA | Photo card, green faculty caption, separate research explanation and cream closing action band. | One named mentor is supported with a real research summary; no unapproved faculty list or quotation is invented. |
Institutional directive alignment
Source: Web Operations Priorities for Enrollment, September 2026, supplied in project sources. Its priority is to demonstrate what students do, who invests in them, and where their education can lead.
| Requirement | Implemented on this page | What remains |
|---|---|---|
| First screen | Biology program identity, real lab imagery, opportunity statement and inquiry action. | Approve the headline, CTA priority and photography rights. |
| What you will do | Early research story, named fieldwork examples, FISH/FIWH links and eligibility caveat. | Verify active projects, selection, prerequisites, timing and student roles. |
| Who will invest in you | Named Dr. Dan Kuebler feature and a concrete undergraduate research topic. | Add an approved student–mentor account showing the faculty action and its result for the student. |
| Where it can lead | Dated Melody Vetrovec ’23/Cornell report and clearly distinguished possible career directions. | Confirm degree/program and reuse permissions. Refresh destination or preserve historical labeling. Add aggregate rates only with cohort, period, denominator and source. |
| How faith shapes the field | Attributed Dr. Kyle McKenna antibody-testing example from the Summer 2025 article. | Academic review, context and reuse approval; ideally add the person’s approved first-person explanation. |
| Practical next steps | Near-top Slate inquiry, catalog, admissions, aid, scholarships, support links and persistent visit/inquiry access. | Validate a controlled Slate submission, matching, major capture, routing, confirmation, consent and attribution. |
| Reusable proof and ongoing measurement | Separate story, mentor, graduate-path and faith modules can map to ACF and Stories CPT records. | Implement approved proof records, review owners, review dates, analytics and consent-aware conversion events in production. |
This pilot supports the common program-page template. It does not complete the directive’s four-to-six-program selection, homepage routes, parent journey, campaign variants, publishing process or 90-day rollout. It establishes no conversion or enrollment effect.
Content and integration notes
- The copy retains the Biology content and published evidence developed in prior versions, condensed and rearranged for this component layout. Proposed headings and summaries need reconciliation with the Carnegie-approved copy inventory.
- The inquiry form uses the supplied Slate ID
c8b3b8fa-3c0d-4b9a-b8d2-32db4945b268. BA maps to3c23e555-63c3-40aa-97d1-749509b5ced5; BS maps to32a4fa84-7d25-45ac-ad47-b162ca4ead9a. The hidden/read-only field configuration remains in Slate. - The iframe isolates Slate styles and resizes to its visible content. Changing degrees reloads the form and clears entered data, with a warning shown before the form. No inquiry data is stored by this prototype.
- The shared production header, footer, navigation script, styles, analytics and ACF model still need integration. The prototype keeps manual green
#21412A; reconcile the documented web green#21421Awith the University’s production tokens. - Body text uses Montserrat; Bennet headings and Objektiv controls use the supplied Adobe font kit. The Figma H1/H2 scale informs the 40px/32px desktop hierarchy.
